這是巴賽語辭典，一個專注於台灣原住民語言巴賽語保存與復興的線上平台。此辭典計畫旨在提供一個完整且便捷的資源，不僅為母語者，還為那些希望更深入了解巴賽族群語言文化的語言愛好者。

This is the Basay Dictionary, an online platform dedicated to the preservation and revitalization of the Basay language, an indigenous language of Taiwan. This dictionary project aims to serve as a comprehensive and accessible resource for both native speakers and language enthusiasts who wish to explore the linguistic heritage of the Basay community.


目標與使命 - Purpose and Mission

語言是文化身份和遺產的核心組成部分。巴賽語辭典計畫的目標是支持巴賽語的保存工作，透過提供便捷的線上辭典，我們希望縮短代際間的距離，並鼓勵年輕一代與自己的語言根源產生連結。

Languages are integral to cultural identity and heritage. The goal of the Basay Dictionary project is to support the preservation of the Basay language. By providing an accessible online dictionary, we aim to bridge generational gaps and encourage younger generations to connect with their linguistic roots.


關於巴賽語 - About the Basay Language

巴賽語（Basay）是台灣北部原住民族巴賽族所使用的南島語系語言。其主要分布於淡水河及新店溪以北、基隆河以西的地區，包括淡水、金山、基隆、貢寮三貂角等地，並在宜蘭的社頭（哆囉美遠）形成語言孤島。

Basay Language (Basay) is a language of the Austronesian family spoken by the Basay people, an indigenous group in northern Taiwan. It was primarily distributed in areas north of the Tamsui and Xindian Rivers and west of the Keelung River, including Tamsui, Jinshan, Keelung, and Gongliao Sandiao Cape. Additionally, a linguistic enclave was formed in Shetou (Dolomayan) in Yilan.

隨著漢人移民的增加，巴賽語的使用逐漸減少。根據研究，巴賽語在1937年左右已經消失。然而，透過歷史文獻和語言學家的努力，巴賽語的部分資料得以保存。例如，西班牙統治時期（1626-1642年）和清康熙時期（1662-1722年）都有對巴賽語的記錄。

With the increase in Han Chinese immigration, the use of Basay gradually declined. Research suggests that the Basay language disappeared around 1937. However, through historical records and the efforts of linguists, some documentation of Basay has been preserved. For instance, records of the Basay language were made during the Spanish colonial period (1626-1642) and the Qing Dynasty (Kangxi period, 1662-1722).

近年來，隨著對原住民族語言文化的重視，巴賽語的復振工作也逐漸展開。例如，凱達格蘭族的巴賽方言初階教材即將問世，為語言傳承帶來新的希望。

In recent years, with greater emphasis on indigenous languages and cultures, efforts to revitalize the Basay language have begun. For example, a basic language textbook for the Ketagalan dialect of Basay is set to be published, bringing new hope for language transmission.

巴賽語屬於南島語系台灣南島語言的東台灣南島語族北部語群。其語音、詞彙和語法特徵與其他台灣南島語言有相似之處，但也具有獨特性。透過對巴賽語的研究，不僅有助於了解台灣原住民族的語言文化，也對南島語系的語言學研究具有重要意義。

The Basay language belongs to the Northern branch of the East Formosan languages within the Austronesian language family. Its phonetic, lexical, and grammatical features show similarities to other Formosan languages while also exhibiting unique characteristics. Research on Basay not only aids in understanding the linguistic and cultural heritage of Taiwan’s indigenous peoples but also contributes significantly to the study of Austronesian linguistics.


辭典功能 - Features of the Dictionary

巴賽語辭典提供用戶可搜尋的詞彙資料庫，包含巴賽語和中文的翻譯、定義與解釋。用戶可以用巴賽語或中文搜尋詞彙，查看詞語的解釋，並了解每個詞條的文化背景。此工具既是教育資源，也是一座通向巴賽語社群的橋樑。

The Basay Dictionary offers users a searchable word database that includes translations, definitions, and explanations in both Basay and Mandarin Chinese. Users can search for words in Basay or Mandarin, view definitions, and learn about the cultural context behind each entry. This tool serves as both an educational resource and a bridge to the Basay language community.


關於創作者 - About the Creator

此計畫由Mirusa Tan Usiliq創建並維護，他是台灣原住民族語言的熱心推廣者與語言學家，目前正在研究的有阿美語、撒奇萊雅語、噶瑪蘭語、排灣語、鄒語、賽夏語、以及噶哈巫語等。Mirusa的目標是讓巴賽語對所有人更加親近，並通過語言來激發對台灣原住民文化遺產的興趣。

This project is created and maintained by Mirusa Tan Usiliq, a dedicated linguist and advocate for indigenous languages in Taiwan. Mirusa’s goal is to make the Basay language accessible to everyone and to inspire interest in Taiwan’s indigenous heritage through language.
